Christ in the Alphabet – “V”

Good Wednesday morning, everyone! This is Judy with your weekly Christ in the Alphabet Devotion series. Today we will look at the letter “V.”

Christ is the “Vine.” Jesus says the only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to Him, like a branch attached to the vine. Jesus is the “vine” and we are the branches. The most Holy place, the Holy of Holies, in the temple was sealed from view by a curtain or a “veil.”

Only the High Priest could enter this room and only once a year to make atonement for the nation’s sins. But now, Jesus’ death has removed the veil and all believers may enter into God’s presence at any time. Christ was born of a “virgin.” He was a human being, born the Son of God without any trace of human sin. He was both fully human and fully divine. The most valuable of all treasures is God’s great plan of redemption, available to all. We should vow to serve Christ with every ounce of our being.

Tennessee is nicknamed the Volunteer state. We should let this be our own personal nickname as well. What do you think? Look around your area for ways to volunteer your gifts, talents, and resources with which to share Jesus with others.

Let us pray as we share the words of the chorus of Victory in Jesus

Oh, Victory in Jesus; my Savior forever. He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him. He plunged me to Victory, beneath the cleansing flood. In Jesus name, AMEN
