Christ in the Alphabet – “W”

Good morning. This is Judy with this week’s Christ in the Alphabet Devotion series. Today we look at the letter “W.”. Christ is “Worthy” to be praised.

We should “worship” God with adoration for He is above all creation, even the angels. Nothing should distract you from your devotion to Him. James 1:5 tells us that if we lack “wisdom,” we should ask God, for He giveth wisdom to all men generously.

We do not ever have to grope around in the dark hoping to stumble upon the answers. We can ask for God’s wisdom to guide our choices in any situation. Philippians 4:6 says: “Be careful for nothing.” This means don’t “worry.” When you find yourself starting to worry over something, just stop worrying and pray more. The late Rev. Homer Roller once said: “Worry is a darkroom for developing negatives.” How true – a great statement from a wise man!

A very dear friend once told me that worrying is like rocking back and forth in a rocking chair. Although you are moving, you are never going anywhere.

God is called the fountain of living “water” which can forever quench one’s thirst for Him. The “water” of life is a symbol of eternal life which is only given to those who believe. John 1:1 says: “In the beginning was the “Word” and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” And John 1.14 says “that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” Jesus is both God and man.

Christ is our most “wonderful” counselor. As we see God’s “wonders” at work in us and through us, we should not lose sight of the greatest wonder of all – our heavenly citizenship. Jesus is the “way” – our path to the Father. It is human nature to make our own plans and then ask God to bless them. Instead, we should seek God’s “will” first. By doing this, we are allowing Him to counsel us and give us wisdom.

Let Us Pray

Jesus, Thank you for your mighty wonders of your love. Thank you for also being our way – the path to our Heavenly Father. You are the light which we need to keep our focus on as we walk and work as reflectors or witnesses to a lost and dying world. Grant us wisdom and patience as we wait upon the Lord. In your name, we pray. AMEN
