Firing Up Your Witness
The sun is out but somehow hiding behind the clouds . . . The firey rays of the sun is distant as the cardinals feed on the bird feeder . . . and as Ray Amos talks about Jeremiah 36:22 – with the king’s fire blazing before him . . . also, Don Campbell with his thoughts written a few hours ago, “What Do You Have in Your Hand“.
After giving God his excuses . . . but finally agreeing to what God tasked him to do . . . Jeremiah emerged as a preaching prophet with God’s fire inside of him to prophecy and witness to change the mindset of the people by preaching throughout Israel.
“What Do You Have in Your Hand – Ezekiel 3?”
God reminded Moses that he had a staff in his hand which God convinced him that he could use to show God’s strength, not the strength of Moses but that which goes beyond.
“What Do You Have in Your Hand?”.
Nate was 17 when he was reading a book on missionaries. Out loud he said, “I would never do that!” Just as loudly, God said to him, “Yes, you will.” Nate told God about the things he wanted to do. God allowed him to travel down roads and paths. Nate took his own direction. God had a hold on Nate . . . and of course, even though Frank Sinatra’s song (“I Had It My Way”) sounds melodic and trendy, it never works.
Tired of following his own guidance (Some great successes by men’s standards), Nate knew his ventures and misadventures were failing. God got hold of him and reminded him of what he had in his hand at seventeen . . . the book and God’s command, “Yes, you will.” From then on, God didn’t call the qualified. He qualified the call. Nate has been in the ministry for almost fifty years.
