Isaiah 43, Hebrews 13:5-6
It’s not every day that God gives me a devotional to “write”. Yesterday, when he put it on my heart, I said, “God, You know I am so busy today. Got company coming and clients. Can this wait a day or two? You know there’s not that many readers . . ” He says, “Even if there is just one . . .” This story/devotional is for the “Just One”.
Years ago after mom’s kitchen chairs had withstand 3 girls and 4 rambunctious boys, she was down to 2 chairs which were functional. She and I both were on a budget but knew God would provide a way.
Searching the yard sales and flea markets, I found the chairs. The entrepreneur looks at me like: “Are you sure you want those chairs”?
The upholstery was ripped up and filling spilling out everywhere. He looked as if he just couldn’t give me a good enough price and felt bad that he was even selling them to me.
Why did I buy these chairs that no one else would want? It was their frames. They were as good and strong as the first day they were made. Thinking that if these chairs could withstand that type of abuse, and the framework still excellent shape . . . They were what I wanted.
Like those old chairs, our upholstery can become torn, frayed and tired, but Belief and Faith in God provides the Framework in which we can Trust, rely on . . . which can restore us.
Most of us have struggles and challenges and some are desperately reaching for the Core of God’s Foundation to mend us as we walk our paths with Him.
We can Trust His Foundation. We can Trust the Framework He provides. It is ageless . . . As We, and God work on our Upholstery.
Isaiah 43
“But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”
Hebrews 13:5-6
” . . . I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”

How Firm a Foundation
How Firm a Foundation
• How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said—
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
• “Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed,
For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand.
• “When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with thee thy trouble to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
• “When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not harm thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
• “The soul that on Jesus doth lean for repose,
I will not, I will not, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.”
