“RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNICATION”
As I think today about RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNICATION, I am reminded of watching the Steve Harvey show the other day where Steve had a woman who made an appearance to meet 4 gentleman, ask them some questions and then pick one for a potential date. One of the first things she says was, “I am looking for someone who can pick up on how I am feeling.”
I am no expert, but the first thing that comes to my mind is . . . That if one is looking for a guy or a mate who can guess at their feelings, that venture will end in some disappointments.
Another fallacy is: I will just be “nice” and if he loves me, all that “I need from my him, will just fall into place because he loves me.”
Communication is everything. We have to tell people in our lives, especially in whom we have a 24/7 investment, our thoughts, our feelings . . . We have to verbalize what our needs are . . . We have to teach people how to treat us.
Years ago, I read in “Dear Abby”, that a relationship and/or a relationship/marriage is made of two people who know how to forgive. It is also made of two people who know how to apologize . . . and admit that an apology is needed. I would further that and say, that it’s made of people who know how to communicate their feelings while leaving the other person’s dignity in tact – communicating with courtesy and respect.
In the end, it is the power of God’s Love that guides us through love.
Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church.”
Ephesians 5:33 “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
Luke 10:27
And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
