This message is called, “What Did I Know”
The other day while having a conversation with my doctor, I asked, “Why didn’t you . . .?” “Well, I was nineteen; what did I know,” She said.
Thought about the many decisions that was being made at the young age of nineteen . . . And, yes . . . “What did I know?”
Our young men and women go into the military around this age. They have made a decision that will change their lives forever . . . And a decision to give their lives, if necessary.
I pray for the souls of those who went on . . . Because . . . “What did they know about life or what did they know about God?”
There wasn’t time to experience all the mercy, grace, love and faith God had for them. It’s one thing to discover God; but, quite another version of life to have further communication, and experience God . . . To gain daily insight, and recognize Who God is and Who He can be to us.
Sometimes because of military experiences, what we do know is that . . . often, there are more questions than answers.
As we experience Memorial Day Weekend, pray for all who have served and are serving, those who made the decisions of their lives at such a young age. Some who still carry the battle with them . . . And those who lost the battle.
And most, as Nate, first enlisted, and then a career Chaplain, serving the Marines, Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines, states . . . “It would be my honor to do it all over again.”
