PACK YOUR BAGS . . .

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

“1 Peter 1:13”

Life has often been described as a journey. Certainly, a major part of navigation through a person’s life is that of “belief, hope and preparation”. We try to be sure that we have the necessary articles to sustain us for daily living.

What about our spiritual journey in life? There are some important things we should have in our “repertoire/bags” to successfully make it through what may lie ahead. We’ll try to be sure we are well equipped.

The first and most important article is living a “Consistent Faith” in God, letting Him set the stage for the navigation of this cruise, called life.

In recognizing, welcoming and feeling the “Personal Touch of God”, we find a deep appreciation for all His Blessings. Faith in ourselves and others stems from a vital realization that it is the Lord Who is in charge of forwarding life’s successful steps.

Another prerequisite for life’s journey is “Truth”. A person is only as good as his word. It is well to establish our lives and conduct it in truth, as best as we know how. This will erase the need to constantly look over ours or others’ shoulders . . . instead, we can press onward, alerted with freedom and enthusiasm.
It is not ours to pursue or decide the truth for others.

“Love” is a “necessity”. We need love for God and for others. We need an awareness and respect for the challenges which all face.

“Love without Discipline” is not good. So, “Discipline” must walk hand in hand with “Love”. It is discipline that helps us guard against the blocks, rocks and shocks of life that can confuse our characters and mangle our potentials.

Finally, we need to pack a generous supply of “Hope” while forwarding to our destination. It will surely lead us to a place of peace and comfort, a harbor.

But peace and comfort oftens depends upon how we prepare and pack our bags for life’s relationships and our journey. What’s in your bag?

1 Peter 1:13
“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
