
What’s In It for Me
Probing the influence of money on people’s lives. One conclusion is that those who love wealth are less likely to be in a loving relationship, and tend to troubled by anxiety, constant worry, and loneliness.
The Bible often extends the promise of rewards: Matthew 5:10-12: “Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad…..; and Matthew 6:18 “….thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.”
These are not demeaning bribes to an incentive programs of a sales organization. They are rather an appropriate result to an obediently surrendered life given to pleasing God “.,….who rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6).
“For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, and be cast away?” (Luke 9:25).
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)
When Messiah Jesus returns, we who are His co-heirs will share in His glory, reigning with Him on earth. (Revelation 5:10)

Three Warnings for the Serving Christian Disciple
1. The danger of a commercial spirit.
2. The danger of a competitive spirit.
3. The danger of a complaining spirit.
Why serve the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom? Duty? Prestige? Reward? Motives are never entirely pure–we, after all, are very human, and a variety of factors propel us. But we are no hirelings, serving for wages. We are redeemed children of the Living God, daily delighting in our Heavenly Father’s work, and trusting in His generosity. Avoid Peter’s mistake! He counted the cost and computed the reward without considering the privileges.
