He Who Believes
If the Four Gospels were condensed to two verses, John 11:25 & 26 would be was comforting as any that I can imagine, hope for, or live for:
Read John 11:25 & 26
It’s part of one of the most heart-rending accounts in all of the eternal Word of God, the Holy Bible:
Read John 11:1-5; 20-36
Our Saviour makes two absolutely startling, amazing, WONDER-Full claims. “I am the resurrection,” is the first, to which He explains by declaring , “…he that believeth in me, thou he were dead, yet shall he live.” (Verse 25)
Our Lord never preached funerals. He preached only resurrections. The Apostle Paul would declare several years later that “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on incorruption.” (I Corinthians 15:53.)
As much as we care for our physical bodies, they aren’t fit for eternity, but our imperishable, immortal bodies are.
Jesus’ second claim is He “is the life,” in verse 11:25, to which He further explains by adding “though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
Jesus Christ our Saviour was the most truthful Man who ever lived on earth, and remains the ever-truthful God who proclaims “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” (Titus 1:2)
At the funeral for his friend, Lazarus, the Lord Jesus Christ didn’t merely claim to be “the resurrection and the life; ” He proved it!
Read John 11:41-44
“Death is swallowed up in victory.” (I Corinthians 15:54) “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (I Corinthians 15:55) “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 15:57)
