“Ray Amos – 10-8-2024 – Proverbs 27:1”
From October 8th, 2024

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

Over the years I have been to many seminars that stressed the need to plan ahead. There is also another factor that cannot be ignored. It is called, “living one day at a time.” The Bible says, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” (Proverbs 27:1). Finding balance in life requires much faith in God.

Each day we embark on a new journey, and face a new challenge. We are all going where no one has gone before. I am thankful that the Good Shepherd leads us. He alone knows where the green pastures and quiet waters are. He also knows the way through the valley even when it is the darkest. The old hymn says,

“I cannot find the way without you.
Dear Lord, look down from Thy throne.
And make Thy light to shine around me;
for I cannot find the way alone.”

Pat and I like to take little rides and explore. When it is time to turn back, I may say to Pat, “Let’s just see what is around the next bend.” There is no way that we can imagine what is around the next bend on life’s highway. There will certainly be sorrows and joys, and times that are both good and bad. The Good News is that “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

God doesn’t send us alone into the future. He is with us all the way. If it seems that He has left us; keep walking. He has only gone ahead a short distance (but we are in His sight). When we get there, He will always already be there.

“Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand; but I know who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
