1 John 5:13
“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13
There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.” Do you remember hearing those words from a parent who had just “laid down the law” about something? We certainly did not have to ask, “What do you mean? “
I doubt that when we used that idiom, we were talking Theology, but it is something to think about. I am thankful that in a world of so many uncertainties there are no “ifs, ands, or buts” about our salvation.
These little words can be dangerous to our faith. After Jesus’ baptism when the voice of God spoke from Heaven, “This is my Son”…, the very first temptation of Satan was to throw an “if” in it. “If you are the Son of God turn these stones into bread.”
We are living in confusing times. There always seems to be someone to challenge our salvation.
The Bible says that “To the one who believes, to that person is given power to become a Child of God.” Grace is totally unconditional, “For by grace you are saved, It is not of works, or anything else.
Every believer in Christ can have absolute confidence that we are saved and have eternal life. There are “No ifs, ands or buts” about it.
“In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Could ever pluck me from His hand
Until He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand”
