Philippians 4:10
“I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.” Philippians 4:10
A gift had come from old friends, and Paul was filled with gratitude. There were needs, plenty of them, but he had learned that patience and contentment are faithful companions. The help that had seemed slow in coming had arrived on time. Paul knew that he could trust the silence of his friends, and of God.
Living by faith can mean trusting the silence of God. In the Bible silence is often in anticipation of something that God is about to do. Dear friends, if God seems silent while your heart is screaming, do not take it to mean that He is unconcerned.
“Lord I trust your silence. Patience whispers to my nervous soul that it will all work for the good. I believe, but please help my unbelief. Why is it so hard to wait in silence? Can’t I be doing something while I wait? I hear you say, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Lord, I trust your silence.”
Perhaps some of you feel that your prayer is not being heard; then hold on and don’t give up. “The LORD your God is in your midst…He will exult over you with joy, He will BE QUIET in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” Zephaniah 3:17
“For you, O lord, my soul in stillness waits. Truly my hope is in you.
O Lord of Light, our only hope of glory, your radiance shines in all who look to you. Come light the hearts of all in dark and shadow.”
