Nehemiah 1:3-4

“The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.” When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.”

When things are impossible for us, we have a choice to either give up, or go to the one with whom all things are possible. Nehemiah prayed and God put him to that task of doing something bigger than he could ever do by himself.

It has often been said that Christians and churches need to be doing work assigned by the Lord that requires more than we have and is bigger than we can do ourselves. That keeps us from the sin of self-reliance when we should be leaning on the Lord.

We are the temple of God. That is true of our physical body, and it is also true of the church body. If a report was given about the Spiritual condition of our life (or our church’s life), what would it say? Would we be moved to tears, prayer and fasting?

What was impossible for Nehemiah to do, the Lord did in record time. The same is true for each of us; the Lord accomplished in three days what we could have never done in a lifetime. Today we can say that we are saved, forgiven, and gloriously alive.

Perhaps it is time for some spiritual remodeling. Time to get our faith up to date, our prayer life fresh, and the fruit of the Spirit back on the table. “Dear Lord, restore to us the joy, and the glory, of your salvation. Amen”

“Nothing is impossible when you put your trust in God,
Nothing is impossible when you’re trusting in his word;
Hearken to the voice of God to Thee,
‘Is there anything too hard to me?’
Then put your trust in God alone and rest upon his word,
For everything, O everything!
Yes everything is possible with God.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
