“Ray Amos 7-22-2025 – Do Our Children and Grandchildren Know the Story of Our Faith?”
From July 22nd, 2025

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

“Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long upon the earth.” Exodus 20:12

If God’s people do not honor the heritage of their fathers and mothers, then the Christian home will become extinct. And when we stop telling our faith stories, they will soon become lost in the sea of forgetfulness.

What happens when Christian families cease to honor Christ and his church? It is better for our children to see us struggle with faith than to see us not care at all. Struggling is seeking, and seeking is finding, but apathy takes entire families away from God.

Jesus told the healed demoniac to stay at home and tell what wondrous things that God had done for him. Isaiah wrote that, “The fathers tell their children about God’s faithfulness.” Do our children and grandchildren know the story of our faith? It is their story too.

There is something about a story that meets a need of the heart. Take some time to go back and sit on memory’s porch. Remember where you came from, and the people along the way. Sit once again in that little country church, or the big one downtown.

When it comes to faith, what stories will our family remember? Have we shared water from the Gospel Well so that they have enough to prime the pump for their own everlasting flow of Living Water?

A beautiful song about a Christian Mother:

“She passed down a legacy that keeps marching on
Through her children and their children through their message and their song
She told us of Jesus and showed His love everyday
As she followed the Master in her own simple way”

What legacy are we passing on?
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
