Leave Outside Whatever Would Hurt or Destroy the Glory of His Untroubled Home
“…how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” Hebrews 2:3
Our Savior has opened his arms and pleads for us to come to him and share in the abundance of eternal life. He asks one thing; that we leave outside whatever would hurt or destroy the glory of his untroubled home.
No one is turned away except those who will not let go of their tarnished treasures and sinful ways. Does that seem unfair? The pandemic we experienced not so long ago should have helped us to understand the necessity of keeping a harmful virus out of our home. Then we should also understand the necessity of keeping sin out of our lives; and appreciate the fact that it is not welcome in Heaven. Heaven would not be Heaven if we had to spend eternity social distancing, and worrying that sin had gotten in.
It is not people who are forbidden on the golden street, it is sin. If we refuse to surrender it, we deny ourselves the gift of eternal life. Like the rich young ruler, Jesus wants us to have salvation much more than we may be willing to accept it. He died to remove sin from our hearts. What more can He do if we refuse so great a salvation?
Is there anything that is keeping us away from eternal life? We have an invitation from God to make Heaven our home. We can come without price; our ticket is purchased by the blood of Jesus. Can we, will we, let go of anything that is standing between us and the Savior?
He is more than ready to cleanse our heart, put a new robe on our soul, and shoes worthy of a new path on our feet.
“Nothing between my soul and the Savior,
So that His blessed face may be seen;
Nothing preventing the least of His favor
Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
