“They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights.” Psalm 36:8
Grace, like water, flows to the lowest point. We are a success-oriented society that often measures a successful person as one who makes it to the top, and has the most of everything good, and the least of life’s hardships. Life isn’t that way for anyone. The truth is that we all live by the same grace that flows like a river from the throne of God.
Jesus told a thirsty and broken woman that He could make a spring of living water to be in her, and she would never thirst again. Suddenly a life that was dry and weary came alive and overflowed into other people. Then they too came to Jesus for this water; and were satisfied.
Overflowing Waters of Grace is the Gospel way. I would rather live in the Valley of Humility downstream from God’s throne than high on the hills of pride. Flowing from beneath the throne of God is a life-giving stream that blesses the valley below.
The Valley of Humility is a place we choose to live. The proud heart will not be happy there and will soon make a retreat to the hills of pride and pleasures. The time comes when that life begins to dry up and the people will thirst for God, as a dear in a dry and weary land. Hopefully then they will seek the Lord and come to the waters and drink without price. He calls us to the valley where there is a bountiful supply of grace and blessings from God.
It is in the Valley of Humility where our cup overflows. There, Christian Love and kindness pour out and bless each other’s soul. Everyone shares the same waters of grace that come from God’s never-ending supply. We all drink from the same dipper; and we say, “God is good.”
“How sweet the living water from the hills of God,
It makes me glad and happy all the way.
Now glory, grace, and blessing mark the path I’ve trod,
I’m shouting ‘Hallelujah’ every day.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
