Acknowledge Him

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

“Acknowledge Him”

Many years ago, Bishop Scott Allen told some of us young saplings that there would be days when we would doubt our calling, but that we should never doubt the One who called us. He was right; I just did not realize how many of those days there would be.

In a moment of discouragement, John the Baptist once sent friends to Jesus to confirm that he had gotten his calling right. Jesus told them to look around and go back and tell John (who was in prison) what they saw and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.

Servants of God look around and see lives that have been touched by the hand of the Lord.

I sometimes think of the two hands of God like this: One is nail scarred to take away our sin, and the other is the bruised and tired hands of the church that care for a broken world. When we see the difference that the children of God are making, then we can know that we got the calling right.

There are many doubts that are not worth the worry. Yesterday’s sunset is a memory, but the Morning Star says, “Arise and Shine!” It is a new day that the Lord has made; Have a cup of coffee, and a talk with Jesus, then step into the day with a song:

He leadeth me! O blessed thought,
O words with heavenly comfort fraught;
Whatever I do, wherever I be,
Still ’tis Christ’s hand that leadeth me.”

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
