ADVENT Day 10
“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” Luke 2:10
“Oh I believe there are angels among us,
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours,
To show us how to live, to teach us how to give,
To guide us with the light of love.”
To those who are discouraged and feeling sad. To you who are burdened with more than you can bear; and to the ones who are just going through the motions of the holiday season. You are not alone in what you are experiencing. Neither are you without God.
God is with us in many ways. Do you remember singing, “All night, all day, Angels watching over me, my Lord?” We believed that as a child; do we believe it now? I still believe that the angels are watching over all of us. “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)
Advent began with the angelic announcement that Mary would give birth to a savior. The heavenly host filled the sky with glorious praise. They protected the young family from Herod. We give them a place in our songs, plays, and Christmas art; Why not give them a chance to speak to our heart?
Let the angels be heard again: “Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
A beautiful song tells of the hope that the angels are speaking to us: “Soft as the voice of an angel, breathing a lesson unheard. Hope with a gentle persuasion, whispers a comforting word. Whispering hope, oh how welcome Thy voice, making my heart in its sorrow rejoice.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
