ADVENT Day 21

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20

It is the first day of winter, and the shortest day of the year. Today the year is an infant; who knows what it will grow to be. Advent is just about over for another year. The word for today is “Maranatha” (Come Lord Jesus). Just as surely as Jesus was born in Bethlehem, He is coming again to take us home.

“Use diligence to come to me quickly,” is what Paul wrote to Timothy; and no doubt, the Heavenly Host is saying the same thing to all who love the Lord.

We sing, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel;” He has come, now what will we do? Advent means the arrival or coming of something, or someone. I would like to suggest that Heaven is always having Advent. The saints are going home one by one.

Two men were planning an event. One said to the other, “I will call you when things are ready.” The response was, “I’ll keep an ear out for it.” As Advent soon will close, may we remember that Christians always keep an ear out for the message from Heaven: “All things are ready, come!”

Jesus has come to make us ready for Heaven. He is coming again to take us home. When He calls, will we answer?

“Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
