Rev. Ray and Pat Amos
Available, Ready and Willing
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
“
“Psalm 118:24”
It was still dark, and the temperature had to be freezing. Frosty grass crunched with each step. The path wasn’t long, but it never got shorter. There are places in life where you don’t want to go, and yet you must.
Sometimes you have to do things that you don’t want to. That lesson is a necessity for life.
I have seen two kinds of servants over the years of ministry: Those who don’t want to serve and won’t; and those who roll up their sleeves and say, “yes Lord,” even if there are times that they don’t feel like it.
Who hasn’t gone to some event that you didn’t want to, and then had a great time after you got there? Sunday comes and some don’t want to get up and go. Excuses come in all shapes and sizes, but true commitment will have nothing to do with any of them. The Kingdom needs followers who are ready and willing whenever the Lord calls.
Here is an old song for a disciple’s heart:
“I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,
O’er mountain, or plain, or sea;
I’ll say what you want me to say, dear Lord,
I’ll be what you want me to be.”
Well, back to the opening paragraph: It was early morning, and it was dark and freezing, but not everything in life is convenient. So, you took a big cold breath of fresh air, and reached for the wooden handle on the door and stepped inside. Perhaps you have no clue but, if you haven’t had this experience, you will never know what you have missed.
“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it;” and by the way, tomorrow is church day.
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
