DAYS OF THANKSGIVING

“Enter his gates with Thanksgiving, and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and bless his name.”

“Psalm 100:4”

There once was a king who had a son who he gave a yearly allowance to. He would pay him the entire sum on a certain day of the year. It then got to be that was the only day in the year when the father ever saw his son. So the king changed his plan and gave him a daily allowance that would be sufficient for each day. And then the son visited the father every day.

“Enter his gates with Thanksgiving, and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and bless his name.” Psalm 100:4

Lord, how many times have I rushed through your gates with some emergency that I had to tell you about? There has often been a need or a worry; and thanksgiving was forgotten. Other times I have come through your gates like an employ punching a time clock when that wasn’t what you wanted at all.

How often you hear our complaints and problems. We are quick to blame you for things gone wrong. Even your friends stood in a cemetery with accusations of, “Lord, if you had been here earlier, we would not be here now.” I know that the “if” word must be a constant stinger in your heart: “If you had been here, If you really loved us, if you are the Christ, “If, If, If.”

You did not appoint us a day of Thanksgiving, but an eternal lifetime of grateful praise. “Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving.” Lord, we all should be so thankful that you open your gates for us. Who are we that you should allow us to praise you in your courts; Yet, you give us grace along with our daily bread.

“I didn’t come here to ask You for anything,
I just came to talk with you Lord.
You’ve answered a million prayers or more,
That I forgot to thank You for,
I just came to talk with You Lord.” Amen.

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
