Habakkuk 3:17
“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, still I will praise Him.”
“DOES IT FIT INTO GOD’S PLAN”
By His own example, Jesus gave us the context for prayer when he prayed, “Not my will, but thine be done.”
Some people ask if it is okay to pray for “this or that.” The real question is, “Does it fit into God’s plan, His work, or the kind of life that we are expected to live as Christians?” The struggle that many people have with prayer is at this very point. Prayer can become one sided; we want a God who will listen to us, but we tend to be less enthusiastic when it comes to listening to Him? Do we consider that it is possible that the Lord has some request for us here on earth below?
Sometimes there is a lack of maturity in prayer. God is not intimidated when adults come across as “Give me the desires of my heart or I will pout.” There is no “Show me the goodies and I will believe” in the Kingdom of God. The test of our faith is when it appears that God is not, and we still know and believe that He is; and we still pray.
“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, still I will praise Him.” Habakkuk 3:17
I watched a little girl fill out a prayer request. Her family was at a food distribution. With prayerful eyes she handed it to me. It simply said, “Momy and Dady.” I believe that all of Heaven grew silent as our Heavenly Father received a perfect two word prayer. She asked for nothing, yet she asked for everything. I believe that her Mommy and Daddy were blessed because their little girl prayed for them. God’s will was done on earth when a child unselfishly and lovingly gave me a note to give to God.
