“Ray Amos – Exodus17:15”

“Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.” Exodus 17:15

Once a lady called me with an upset voice. She wanted to know why there had been a death in the community and she had not been informed. I said to her that I didn’t know anything about it. She then told me that a line of traffic had gone down the street with orange funeral home flags on each car. Then I knew what was going on: It was football time in Tennessee.

We love banners. They tell something about who, or what, we are supporting. It may be the Stars and Stripes, that favorite college team, or anything else.

What is your banner today? For Rahab it was a scarlet chord that hung outside her window to say that all who live in this home are to be saved by the mercy of God. For Moses it was an altar that declared the Lord fights our battles, and gives His children victory.

For those who believe the Gospel of Christ it is still the Cross of Calvary. “You have given a banner to those who fear You so that they can rally to you, so that those who are dear to you may be rescued.” Psalm 60:4

“Jesus is the rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love…
He brought me to His banqueting table,
His banner over me is love,
His banner over me is Love. “

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
