Fear and Worry
A devotion for those who feel the fear and worry of life’s battle today.
The devil knows our weakness, and that is where he is likely to attack us. We are told to put on the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD for a reason. Ignore any part of it and we are in trouble. Apparently Goliath didn’t think that he needed to protect his forehead. Although he was the enemy’s champion, reckless arrogance brought him down. When a Christian really begins to think that he/she is able to handle any part of life on our own, we are headed for trouble.
Another tactic of the devil is to confuse us so that we fight against each other, and actually believe that we are right in doing so. More Christians destroy one another with friendly fire in the army of God than we can ever imagine. It happens every day, people fighting one another, while the real enemy is enjoying it all.

Let Christians cease fire with unkind words and actions; then we can join together on our knees, where the real battles are fought and won.
Finally, we must learn to stand still and trust God when everything tells us to retreat. Don’t let the devil send you running with his propaganda of exaggerated fear. Leviticus 26:36 spoke of a time when the sound of a shaking leaf would frighten the people; and they shall flee as fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one is pursuing them.”
How many times have we run from something that wasn’t there? Can we count the things that we have worried about that never came to pass?
A young soldier was afraid because of the size of the enemy they were facing. “What shall we do?” he worried out loud. He was told not to be afraid because they had plenty of help to win the battle. “Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around. The Lord was on their side.
When fear causes us to see things that are not there: calm down and pray. Then you can see that the Lord is near. “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the (enemy) or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side!” 2 Chronicles 32:7
