Psalm 139:14

DEVOTION FOR TODAY, November 16, 2020

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works;”

The doctor held a model of a knee in his hand as he explained how it works. You never know where and when the Holy Spirit is going to tap your heart, but as I listened, I felt like shouting, “What a mighty God we serve!”

There is no way that all this evolved. Like all other things, the human body has a Master Designer. “We are fearfully and wonderfully made.” Look around at this fantastic world, take a breath of air, and listen as all nature sings with the music of the spheres; and shout, “My God, my God! How Great thou art!”

Festus said to Paul, “Too much learning has made you mad,” Well, that really was not the case although some do let it rob their good sense. True knowledge shows the fingerprints of God all over the world. “My soul magnifies the Lord.”

It does not matter if we cannot agree on how all this wonderful world happened, but our lives are greatly affected if we cannot believe that “In the beginning God did it.” I heard of a person who was struggling with a severe problem during one night. As he prayed and looked up at the sky, he thought about the stars above. Not one of the stars was propped up. He determined that if God could hold the stars in the sky, then God could certainly hold him too.

I have lived on this earth a long time, and over and over I have witnessed simple faith at its best. All the theology in the world is of small value if it does not lead us to a simple truth: “Jesus Loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

“I believe above the storm the smallest prayer will still be heard. I believe that someone in that great somewhere hears every word. Every time I hear a newborn baby cry, or touch a leaf, or see the sky; then I know, why I believe.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
