Exodus 17:5-6
“The LORD answered Moses, ‘Go out in front of the people … and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile and go. I will stand there before you by the rock’…”
“GOD IS ALREADY THERE”
Have you ever been given strength to take the next step, to face a hard moment, and to go where you thought you could not, because someone held you close and gave you their strength? We have all needed someone during those times, and we are thankful when they were there.
“God goes before us;” I find great comfort in these words. They speak of God’s direction, presence, and power in whatever we are facing today.
When Moses and the people were up against “the devil and the deep blue sea” God was already there, and He made a way where there was no way.
When they needed water and were up against a “rock and a hard place” The Lord was already there standing on the rock. He gave them water from the rock.
When the three Hebrew children were thrown into the fire; the Lord was already there, and the four of them walked in the fire as friends, and they were not burned.
When the news is hard to hear and makes our heart faint, He is there to say, “Be not afraid; only believe.” When death has broken our heart, and we think that we can’t go on; Jesus is already there to say “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
And when we enter the gates of Heaven our home, we will behold Him because He is already there. “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
“Never a burden that He does not carry, never a sorrow that He does not share. Whether the day be sunny or dreary, Jesus is always there.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
