Exodus 17:6
DEVOTION FOR TODAY, September 2, 2020
“The LORD answered Moses; I will stand there before you by the rock….”
GOD GOES BEFORE US; I find great comfort in those words of grace. Where are we going today? What will we need? When we get there, He will be waiting with grace sufficient for whatever it is. Who but the Lord can turn a “No Way” into a highway across troubled seas?
When they needed water and none was to be found; the Lord said, “Go to the rock and I will meet you there.” The Lord was already there standing on the rock where living water flowed. There “they drank till their thirst was satisfied. The Psalmist prayed, “Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” We too drink from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
When the news is hard to receive and makes our heart faint, He is there to hear it with you, and to say, “Be not afraid; only believe.”
Child of God do not let the Devil discourage you. Hold your head up and keep on walking. God knows the way across your seemingly impossible sea. He knows that you can feel squeezed between the rock and your hard place. Look up! See who is standing on the rock.
The hymn says, “This Rock is Jesus, Yes He’s the One, This Rock is Jesus, the only One; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock.”
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
