Psalm 85:8
“I will listen to what God the Lord says, he promises peace to his people.”
“He Promises Peace”
If our heart is restless, and storm clouds are in the sky; we should listen to the Lord. Hear him say, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”
“Sometime when misgivings darken the day,
And faith’s light I cannot see,
I ask my dear Lord to brighten the way,
He whispers sweet peace to me.
He whispers sweet peace to me,
He whispers sweet peace to me,
When I am cast down in spirit and soul,
He whispers sweet peace to me.”
Remember the story of Jarius who pleaded for Jesus to come to his house and heal his daughter. Jesus told him to not be afraid but only believe. The people mocked Jesus’ words. Before there could be healing and peace, Jesus had to put the ridiculing voices of others out of the house. Are there voices that we should not be listening to if we want to hear Jesus.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
It was Longfellow who wrote, “Thy voice is a celestial melody.” Let that be the true voice of the church as we speak the Word of the Lord.
