“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3
I have never heard anyone look at a tree and question the miracle of a seed, yet foolish people can look out at the universe and question the existence of God. He can’t be seen, how do we know that He is there? I don’t need to see the roots of the tree to believe that they are there. It is enough to see the tree stand tall, and taste its fruit for me to believe that the roots exist. If a person thinks that is elementary and simple, then so is faith.
I asked someone to read the Gospel text in church. She asked, “Does it have any of those big words in it?” I said, “No, they are mostly quotations of Jesus, and He never used words that were hard to say or understand.” Jesus was a Master at keeping things simple, yet profound.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Those are the first words of the Bible. We can have all the theories in the world, yet not a one of them changes a simple truth: God did it; He took chaos and made this wonderful world. I don’t need to see the roots to believe they are there, I see the tree.
“I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom, for me and for you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
