Luke 2:6
“And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.”
“IT IS THE TIME”
“It is time for the baby.” Those words can stir every emotion we have as though our soul is a snow globe suddenly being shaken; our world is about to change.
I wonder what it was like when Mary said to Joseph, “It’s time for the baby.” Did he feel like panicking? Did Mary have scared tears in her eyes? Did she wish for her mother to be near?
“IT IS TIME.” Those words can trigger fear or joy. Among the first words that Jesus spoke in John’s Gospel was the phrase, “My time has not yet come.” He once said to some people, “Your time is always, my time is not yet.” How true that is. When we want something, we want it now. He taught us that God’s time neither runs early or late.
“The hour has come.” Those words were spoken soon enough by the baby in the manger. Those little shoulders in the manger would become the shoulders of the Savior who would carry a heavy cross; and Mary’s eyes would again fill with tears. The time she feared the most had come.
The preacher of Ecclesiastes said that there is a time for every matter under heaven. “A time to be born, and a time to die.” He went on to write, that God has made everything beautiful in its time; also, He has put eternity into our hearts.
The modern Advent phrase is “I am so busy that I don’t have time…” THE TRUE ADVENT MESSAGE IS THAT NOW WE HAVE TIME, AND WE SHOULD PREPARE, BECAUSE READY OR NOT, JESUS IS COMING.
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
