“Ray Amos – John 14:16”
From May 16th, 2024

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—” John 14:16

These are difficult and confusing times for many who are just trying to faithfully live for Jesus. Don’t give up on the Lord because you feel like you are the lost coin in the church these days (see Luke 15:8-10). You are valuable to the Lord, He will sweep the house when the time is right, and the humble faithful will be restored.

Our Lord warned His followers of days to come when the world would turn against believers, when family would fight family, and folks hurt folks because they never really got to know the Love of God. Even in today’s church, one of the clear differences between having religion and having friendship with the Lord is the absence, or presence, of Love. If we have not Love, our righteousness is not righteous.

We don’t have to despair; there is Good News. We will never be alone, never without someone who knows the truth and is willing to guide us through our wilderness. If we were in a swamp alone, then we would have plenty of reason to worry; but when we have a friend and guide who knows the way; why let worry get us down? We can actually begin to enjoy life again.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Don’t say, “When the Holy Spirit comes we will get our life back.” We need not pray for the Holy Spirit to descend upon us; He has already descended! He is here, Hallelujah!

My Sister, my Brother, whatever is going on in our lives today, we have a COMFORTER and ADVOCATE. Our situation is our opportunity to live the life that sings:

“Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
