“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit that will last…” John 15:16
Think of all the times that you have been called because you were chosen for something. Some were exciting, others were dreaded. The Lord says, ” I have called you by name, you are mine.”
A wonderful truth in the Bible that I find very encouraging is that God is the one who takes the initiative to find us, save us, and put us to work in his Kingdom.
When Adam and Eve were ashamed and hiding from God; He came calling for them with a plan to save them.
Of all the prophets and disciples, pioneers of the faith from Abraham to Mary and Joseph, and the New Testament saints; I can’t think of one of them who applied for the job. They were chosen.
None of us first chose the Lord. He chose us so that we might be with Him. We only accepted His offer of salvation. We love Him because He first loved us.
Christ never seeks us for who we are, but for who we were intended to be, in his image. He has a great record of taking the most unlikely by surprise to do extraordinary works of faith and grace. Are we listening?
“You had better hush, hush;
Somebody’s calling my name.
Hush,
Somebody’s calling my name.
Hush,
Oh my Lord, oh my Lord what shall I do?”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
