“Ray Amos – Joshua 24:15”

“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve … But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

Living with indecision is a miserable way of life. The people were one day living for God, and the next day engrossed in the gods of the world. It is a problem that has existed from the time of creation. Joshua challenged the people to make up their minds whom they would serve.

Elijah called on the people to stop wavering between two opinions. “If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” Jesus taught us that no person can serve two masters. We will constantly be rejecting one and choosing the other.

The devil has many tools in his box, and indecision is one of his most powerful ones. He doesn’t mind if we make a few steps towards a better relationship with God as long as we keep running back and forth. James wrote that when we do that, we are like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

The little girl trembled as she climbed the steps to the diving board. She would walk out to the end and stand there ready to jump into the water. Her father was in the pool with outstretched arms. She would start to jump, and then run back down the steps. After several attempts, she finally took the plunge. From that moment on she enjoyed diving and swimming.

Have we taken that leap of faith into the outstretched arms of God? Have we plunged into the water, not knee deep, not waist deep, but into the immeasurable depths of the Spirit of Christ? Once we do, we will realize that nothing we left behind compares to the joy we have found in serving the Lord.

“I have decided to follow Jesus.
No turning back, no turning back.

Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.?

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
