Psalm 91:11-12
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.”
“LETTING GO AND TRUSTING GOD”
Letting go has always been a problem for me. The expression, “Let Go and Let God” is easier said than done for many of us. I am not sure why that is. We used to call it surrendering to God. Maybe that’s the problem: surrender sounds like defeat. I am defeated, I’m a sinner that can’t save myself, and I’m troubled with problems that are too hard for me to fix.
Have you ever felt like you were hanging over some deep gorge and there was no one to help? That may be the very best place to be if it finally brings us to trust God. When we have unsuccessfully tried everything else and we finally let go of our grip, we will always find that the hand of God is closer than we thought.
A very effective trick of the devil is to convince people that the gorge is too deep, that we have traveled too far down the road of sin; and that the invisible hand of God isn’t there; and if it is, it isn’t for people like us. “Many say about me, ‘there is no help for him in God.” Psalm 3:2
It is amazing how close the hand of God really is to us. He is not as far away as we might have thought. Let go of what is keeping you from the life that Christ is offering you. He will catch you and you will be safe and loved in the hands of God.
“Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
