Leviticus 26:36 speaks of a time when “the sound of a shaken leaf would frighten the people; and they shall flee as fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one is pursuing them.”
How many times have we run from something that wasn’t there? How high is the mountain of fears that were not necessary? Can we count the things that we worried about that never came to pass?
A young soldier in the Lord’s army was worried about the size of the enemy they were facing. “What shall we do?” he worried out loud. He was told not to be afraid because they had plenty of help to win the battle. “Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around.”
Fear may cause us to run from our troubles, seen and unseen; but faith trust in One that we cannot see. The Lord said, “I am with you always.” Even though there are times when it doesn’t seem like it; faith whispers, “I see the invisible presence of the Savior that I love.”
He is with us today and forever, whether we see Him or not. Never allow fear to take away your confidence in God and His providence.
The Hymn says, “Give to the winds thy fears…Thou seest our weakness, Lord, our hearts are known to Thee; O lift Thou up the sinking heart, confirm the feeble knee.”
