Matthew 6:33-34
“…seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
“Look for and Embrace Today’s Joy”
The first day of class has begun and the student listens to the teacher’s plan. “This is what will be expected for you to complete this class.” It is overwhelming and seems impossible, but not if the student takes it a day and a page at a time.
O this life draining sin of worry: So anxious for tomorrow that we miss today. It seems often that when Christians get together, we ignore the Savior in our midst while looking for answers in all the wrong places. We gloom and doom about everything, even the future of our church.
Is not Christ still the head of the Church? Isn’t he still God of the universe? Do we still believe that with God all things are possible, or have we outgrown that? We run in fear from tomorrow’s shadows, and we run so hard that we lose today’s joy.
Our testimony is not what God will do tomorrow, but what he has done before, and what he is doing this very day. He lives among us; we fear no evil for the Good Shepherd is with us.
This is the day that the Lord has made. This is the day of glad rejoicing, of laboring in Kingdom fields, and fighting the wiles of the devil. If we want to help the church of tomorrow, then we must roll up our sleeves and work with Jesus today.
Sure, we have troubles and sorrows; we also have joy and gladness.
“Help me then in every tribulation
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word
Day by day, and with each passing moment
Strength I find, to meet my trials here
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
