Genesis 32:26

“Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!”

“May Jesus Christ Be Praised”

The night is dark, but we will soon hear the crack of dawn. There are those who love the morning while others grasp the dark in a wrestler’s hold as it says, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” (Genesis 32:26) Shakespeare wrote, “The morning steals upon the night melting the darkness.”

The song pleads, “In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.” We often think that awaiting circumstances will determine our day. There are things that some look forward to while others awaken with dread in their heart. The truth is that we don’t know what a day may bring, but we have the assurance that Jesus will meet us there.

The glowing eastern sky tells us that when the Bright and Morning Star arises, its name is Jesus. Let our awaking heart cry, “May Jesus Christ be praised!”

It was H.W. Beecher who said, “Let the day have a blessed baptism by giving your first waking thoughts into the bosom of God. The first hour of the morning is the rudder of the day.”

This morning I write with no glowing beauty in the east, some days are like that in our lives, The rain is falling on the metal roof, and it is a pleasant morning sound. God is seen in the glow and heard in the rain; and the sun shines whether we see it or not. It is a pleasant reminder of a hymn I haven’t heard in a long time. Perhaps you remember it also:

Sometimes our skies are cloudy and dreary,
Sometimes our hearts are burdened with care;
But we may know, whate’er may befall us,
Jesus is always there.

Never a burden that He doth not carry,
Never a sorrow that He doth not share;
Whether the days may be sunny or dreary,
Jesus is always there

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
