My Saturday Prayer

“Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name”

Jeremiah 31:35

Thou who causes the bright and morning star to rise each day, shine on us I pray. I do not ask this so that our day will be favorable and easy; but that we might reflect the brightness of your love. We all have some thorn in our flesh, but whether it is removed or it remains we know that your grace is sufficient for our need.

Remind us of mornings when the day was dreaded, but the evening proved you faithful through that long day. We raise our Ebenezer lest we forget that thus far the Lord has helped us, and you will not forget us today, or tomorrow, or forever.

We pray for daily bread, not because our cabinets are empty, but because the ingredients for life come from the storehouse above. We cannot afford to forget that before you give, you first bless; and to whom much is given, much is expected. Let not our earthly soul be at ease when the lives of others are not.

Save us from sinful pride that shrouds the heart with haughtiness, or else we might forget that we were all made in your image; and God is Love. May your likeness be formed in us, and may our lives become overflowing vessels of love, joy, and peace:

Good Master, who divides the night from the day, you have given us a day of holy rest. Tomorrow, when that day comes, we shall say, “We are glad to go unto the House of the Lord.” Savior, in your Love: compel those who will not go, and comfort those who cannot. And when that bright and cloudless morning comes, and the roll is called in the land that is fairer than day, may our shouts of praise be, “Lord by your mercy we are here!” In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

“Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty, God of love,
Please look down and see my people through.
I believe God is now, was then, and always will be.
With God’s blessing we can make it through eternity.
Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, Please look down and see my people through.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
