“…they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Acts 17:11
How are we going to hear from God if we leave the pages of the Bible unturned? “Study to shew yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) I know that you can study the Bible alone, but there is also something very unifying to the Body of Christ when we study God’s word together.
The simplicity of the Gospel of Christ is greatly needed in our lives today.
I remember once when I was struggling with a worrisome issue that I prayed, “Lord, I wish that you would just give me an answer written out in black and white.” Then, I looked over and saw the Bible on my desk. He had silently, but clearly spoken: “I did write you the answer, open it and read.”
I just believe that a lot of us are sometimes looking for answers that we already have. And sometimes we may not like the answer; but we do a lot of things in this world that we don’t like because it is expected, and often best.
I once heard Billy Graham say, “You can’t stop the birds from flying over your head, but you don’t have to let them build a nest in your hair.” We can’t help all the stuff that we hear these days, but we are responsible to God for what we believe.
“The Bible stands every test we give it,
For its Author is divine;
By grace alone I expect to live it,
And to prove and to make it mine.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
