Personal Relationship with God

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

“1 Peter 5:7”

I am convinced that the devil gets great mileage from the false idea that God isn’t interested in us personally. If he can get us to believe that, then he has shut down our prayer life.

We are in danger of replacing great praying with much worrying and fussing about things. There isn’t a need that God cannot meet, a burden too heavy for Him to lift, or a sin so bad that He won’t forgive. In His own words, Jesus said, “With God all things are possible.”

The deceiver says, “God hasn’t time for your worries,” but God wants you to know that there is enough of His Love for everyone.

Most of us have been blessed to grow up around people of simple belief and great faith. They may not have always gotten their theology correct, but I doubt that God was overly concerned with that. What mattered was that their heart was right with God. Each one had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; can we say the same thing?

I believe that is why I love the Gospel songs that have come out of our hills and hollers. They come from a way of life where living by faith is how you make it through. Those old songs are about a personal God, and they kept folks going when the way was rough, and they kept us thinking about a better land on some glad day to come.

God made it very clear in the Bible that religion that keeps Him at a cold distance from the people He loves is not what He wants. We are created for fellowship with God, and that is a very personal matter for each of us. “Let everyone work out his/her own salvation (the way we walk with God) with trembling and fear.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
