“I will listen to what the Lord says; he promises peace to his people.” Psalm 85:8
Have you ever tried to listen to more than one voice at the same time? Could it be that we can’t hear the Lord’s whisper because of the clamoring of many voices?
Monday is here and who knows what the week may bring. We can’t help the voices that are all around us, but we can decide which one we will listen to. There is plenty of gloom and doom along with unkind and hurtful words out there, and there are good words seasoned with kindness if we will listen.
We can be like the Psalmist and listen to the promises of God? If our heart is restless, and storm clouds are in the sky; we can listen to the voice of our Savior. Hear him say, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”
When life’s battles seem endless, and the noise is earth shattering, but we can’t hear God. Listen for the whisper, the still small voice:
“Sometime when misgivings darken the day
And faith’s light I cannot see
I ask my dear Lord to brighten the way
He whispers sweet peace to me
He whispers sweet peace to me
He whispers sweet peace to me
When I am cast down in spirit and soul
He whispers sweet peace to me”
