Joel 1:3
“Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.”
“SALVATION AND RESPONSIBILITY”
We live in the days of specialties. I suppose that is both good and problematic. When we have a difficult problem, it is a blessing to have someone helping us who is skilled in our area of need. It also becomes easier to expect someone else to do what is our responsibility.
To teach our children is a personal duty; we cannot delegate it to Sunday school teachers, or other friendly helpers; these can assist us, but cannot deliver us from the sacred obligation that belongs to every Christian parent.
Neither can we assume salvation is ours because we have grown up in a Christian home. In the family of God, we are all his children; not one of us are a grandchild of God. Accepting Christ is a personal responsibility, a choice that each one must make for him/herself. Do our children know that?
I recently heard a father and son working side by side in construction. I overheard and was blessed. “Son, you are twenty years old, and you have received from the church all your life. Now, it is time for you to step up and do your part. Be a giver, a worker, never just take without giving back more. Let your friends know that you love the Lord, let them see it; not just hear it”
Now that is what the Bible is talking about! Tell your Children about Jesus and let them tell their children about Jesus. That father was constructing more than a house, he was helping his son build a life fit for Heaven.
“Tell me the story of Jesus,
write on my heart every word;
tell me the story most precious,
sweetest that ever was heard.”
