“SEASONS OF REFRESHING WATER”

Several years ago a man was taking me to visit his friend. I was riding in his work truck. It was a very hot day and we were crossing a bridge. He suddenly stopped and got out of his truck, and jumped off the bridge. I didn’t see that coming and was left wondering what had just happened. Feeling a bit shocked I got out and went to the side of the bridge. He was swimming in the lake below as he said, “Come on in preacher, the water feels good.”

As we rode on to make the visit, I wondered what I had missed by not taking the dive. Whatever it was I was glad to have missed it. (I also wondered if it was safe riding with this character.)

Ezekiel had a vision of a man stepping out in the water with a measuring line. He seemed to be measuring how far a person can go with God. The water was first ankle deep, then knee deep, waist deep, then deep enough to swim in.

How deep are we willing to go in our relationship with God? Are we ready to stop and jump into the waters of God’s redemption and love?

We go through times of spiritual drought as we make our way to Heaven. Our God said that He would make streams in the desert as we journey through difficult times. I don’t recommend that you go jump in a lake, but I do pray that we all will have seasons of refreshing in the river that flows from the throne of God.

“Step into the water,
Wade out a little bit deeper.
Wet your feet in the water of his love.
Oh Step into the water
Wade out a little bit deeper,
Come join angels singing,
Praises to the Lamb of God.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
