Some of us may remember loved ones who came before us who spoke of signs. They found comfort and confirmation in simple things that helped them experience their faith in ways that they believed God was reassuring and guiding them.

Occasionally we have those out of the ordinary experiences come to us that are like a smile, or a wink, from God. They are often simple and may even go unnoticed by those who are busy in their mind.

God obviously loves beautiful things; and He loves to share them. This part of the country is alive with changing beauty, and every now and then it seems like a rose is especially picked and left at our doorstep to remind us that our God is a personal and loving God.

One such experience came to us several years ago. It was a difficult time, and we were worried and praying about some things in our life. It was also the time for Annual Conference. A day or two before we were to leave, a white dove showed up at our house. It stayed around our backyard until we left; it even allowed us to get close enough to hold it. We believed it was sent to us as a sign of God’s love and faithfulness. If it came to encourage us, it succeeded.

When we returned from conference it was gone. Yet another strange thing: a single white tail feather was left in our door. Pat keeps it in our Bible as a reminder of God’s love.
