Proverbs 5:13-14

“I would not obey my teachers or turn my ear to my instructors. And I was soon in serious trouble in the assembly of God’s people.”

“SIN WILL TAKE YOU OUT TOO FAR”

I had a friend who would have been the perfect candidate for the “All around Good Guy and Country Boy.” He and his brother went raccoon hunting one night and the dogs treed. For some reason he climbed the tree, and went out on a limb to “shake it out.” When he did, he discovered that it wasn’t a raccoon at all, but a bobcat. (How many remember Buck Owens singing, “I’ve got a Tiger by the Tail?)

Have you ever been convinced that you were making a right decision; and then discovered that you had a tiger by the tail? Proverbs 14:12 tells us that there is a way that may seem right to us, but in the end it is the path of destruction.

Someone has said, “Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.” How true those words are.

The Christian life is a choice that each one must make: “I choose to call Jesus Lord.” When we do that, then we must choose Him all the way. That means that we will be making all other choices from the standpoint of Knowing that the Jesus way of life is the right way.

“I choose Jesus… I choose Jesus…
Without a solitary doubt, I choose Jesus…
Not for miracles, but for loving me…
Not for Bethlehem, but for Calvary…
Not for a day but for eternity… I choose Jesus…”

C.S. Lewis wrote, “The angels of God hold their breath to see which way we will choose to go.”
