Psalm 30:5

…weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Strength and Joy in Our Weakest Moments

What do we do when the task is great and we are weak, the journey is long and we are tired, the night is dark and our light flickers? The gentle Savior speaks, “But don’t you know that my strength is in your weakness? The journey is not long for me, and I neither faint nor am weary. When you feel like you can’t go on, rest in the palm of my hand and I will carry you. Your light is weak but still stronger than the dark; and my word will shine in the path before you. We will make the journey together; I will never leave you”

Isn’t it true that in our weakest moments we often pray the deepest prayers?

The Apostle Paul refused to boast in his own strength and his long list of accomplishments. He found the real power was when he bowed at the feet of Jesus: “Then,” he said, “When I am weak, I am strong.”

Some of you are in the darkest time of your life, and the longest valley you have ever traveled. When troubles threaten, and trials come; when clouds hang low and hides the sun, and night is slow to greet the morning; there is help that is only a prayer away.

Do not think that the Lord looks upon your weakness as a lack of faith. “He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.” (Isaiah 22:3). What you call weakness is great strength when placed in the hands of God. My heart keeps singing this song:

“If you’ve knelt beside the rubble of an aching broken heart
when the things you gave your life to fell apart.
You’re not the first to be acquainted with sorrow, grief, or pain
But the master promised sunshine after the rain

Hold on my child joy comes in the morning
Weeping only last for the night.
Hold on my child Joy comes in the morning
The darkest hour means dawn is just in sight.”
