Luke 2:38

“Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God…”

“Thankful for the Unseen Presence of God”

Anna thought about the life that she had lived. These many years have passed so quickly; “Where has time gone?” Some people say that life is not fair, but she did not think that way, even though it had been difficult at times. Sure, there had been lean days, but there was always enough. She had memories of a good husband, but he died seven years after their marriage. That was a long time ago; and now she was old.

Most of her days were spent at the House of God. It was home for her, and she served in various ways. Anna knew about everyone there; and she had seen a lot of people coming and going with hope that they would somehow meet God. She longed for that herself.

Anna loved to see young parents bring their newborns to worship. Although she had no children of her own; she had seen a lot in her lifetime, and she knew the importance bringing up a child in the way of the Lord. And, of course, she enjoyed every opportunity to hold a baby.

She was a thankful saint who had learned the value of expressing gratitude in every situation. Most of all she was thankful to spend her days in the very place where the unseen presence of God was so real; still she longed for the day when she would see his face.

On a day when the sun seemed to shine a little brighter, she made her way along the path to her daily station while all nature seemed to sing a new song. Some days are just blessed days; and that day was one of them.

A humble couple brought their little one to be presented to the Lord. “May I hold him,” she asked. A warm shiver and a baby’s smile; she knew who he was. The Bible said that she began thanking God and telling everyone that the Messiah had finally arrived. That day was Anna’s Thanksgiving.

“He is here, hallelujah.
He is here, amen.
He is here, holy, holy.
I will bless His name again.

He is here, listen closely.
Hear Him calling out your name.
He is here, you can touch Him.
You will never be the same.”
