Ephesians 6:24

“Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.”

THE CROSS BROUGHT GRACE

A dear friend went to her heavenly home this week. We already miss her. Even though we know that she is in the presence and joy of the Lord, we were not done needing her with us. We talked across the miles by phone just a few days ago. I prayed with her; and when I finished, she began to pray for Pat and me. How I cherish those moments.

I thought again of what I have said before, “We would have never known her if it had not been for Calvary.” Someone, somewhere, lifted the cross and we were drawn to the Savior who hung there. “Amazing love! how can it be, that Thou, my God, should die for me?”

The cross of Christ brings much grace to our fallen race. Not only are our sins washed away, but we are also given friends, and a new family. How many friends, and how much love have we known because we were drawn together at the foot of the cross?

I have always tried to keep in mind that each Sunday may be the last sermon that someone will hear, the last worship experience with church family. Will it have been one that encouraged faith, warmed the heart, and filled our cups with love?

I sat in the living room with a saint of many years. “You seem a little down today,” I said. She smiled, and replied, “I have been worried about what my friends in Heaven must be thinking. I should have been there by now. They must think that I didn’t make it.” I laughed and said, “Oh, you will surprise them one of these days;” and she did. Isn’t it wonderful to be in the family of eternal joy?

“When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be.
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
