The Word Became Flesh: The Power of Jesus in Our Words
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
In the area of communication even the smallest stroke of the pen is powerful; a careless word, and the very way we say it can set a peaceful world on fire. The Bible says that there is more hope for a fool than there is for a person who is, “hasty in speech.”
But thank God for the good words, the kind and encouraging ones that restore hope to a broken heart and peace during the storm. It is Advent and the Word of all words is among us. He is not just a word to read but to experience.
As Christians we to communicate the love of God. Every word we speak and every expression we make must be wisely and prayerfully chosen. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Proverbs 25:11.
When God gave His greatest expression of love to the world, He chose a single Word. The Word is a name: JESUS. When we say the Word, devils tremble, fear leaves, hope returns. The same Word conquers death and gives us eternal life.
“The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.”
That Word is highlighted by the cross, and there is no mistaking the meaning: GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD – And that means He loves us too!
