Proverbs 19:21
“Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.”
“Unchanging God”
We are living in an age of “wow!” Ready or not, here comes the next new gadget, new idea, and ongoing struggles in a world that is constantly changing. I am thankful for our unchanging God.
We face many challenges today that we cannot ignore. How do we spread the steadfast Gospel, and live the kind of life our Lord expects of us in times like these? If I dare to answer the question, I will only show my ignorance. The truth is that only God knows how to untangle the mess we have made of life. He alone is our help and strength for living out our faith.
No one has seen more anguish, injustice, terror, and meanness than Jesus. Yet he faced daily life living the opposite of all of these. He taught us that we trust our heavenly Father with the things we have no control over. We humbly live a decent and clean life that is holy in God’s eyes. We do not condemn others but show by example the more excellent way of God’s Love.
I know of no time that Jesus ever pointed an unkind accusing finger, lifted a fist, or spoke a mumbling word. He gathered around him the rejects of religion and made them to become the family of God. This is the kind of Christianity that changes the world.
Jesus did not spend his time on earth fighting winless battles. Neither did he conform to the ways of the world. Instead, He was a light in our darkness, salt in our staleness, hope for the hopeless, and the Way for the lost. Didn’t He send us out to be like him?
“To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus!
My desire – to be like Him!
All thru life’s journey from earth to glory,
My desire – to be like Him.”
